Two second half goals by Linn-Mar ended the Wahawk Boys' Soccer season on game shy of the Class 2A State Soccer tournament. After a scoreless 1st half, Linn-Mar scored approximately 10 minutes into the 2nd half action. West responded with a goal to tie the game, only to have Linn-Mar score again with  less than 15 minutes remaining. The Wahawks mounted several scoring attempts in the final minutes, but were unable to break through.

The Waterloo West Boys Soccer Team defeated Cedar Falls in the semifinals of 2A Sub-State action. West scored midway thru the 1st half, while playing with the wind, but came out and controled the ball in the second half despite the direction change. West scored its scond goal with about 12 minutes remaining, and the outcome was never in doubt for the remainder of the game. Alex Frank played a strong game, and had little problem with the Cedar Falls goal scoring chances.

West will play Linn-Mar Thursday nite at the Cedar Valley Youth Soccer Association Complex for the State Tournament bid. West defeated Linn-Mar last week 4-0 at Linn-Mar.

The Wahawk Boys Soccer team advance to the quarterfinal round of Class 2A Sub-State soccer with a 9-1 victory over Waterloo East this afternoon at Sloane Wallace Soccer Stadium. West came out with a flurry of quick goals in the early minutes, and led at halftime 8-1.

West returns to action against Cedar Falls in the the semi-final round of Sub-State #5 on Tuesday (May 20th). The contest begins at 6:30pm, at the Cedar Valley Youth Soccer Association Complex (Ridgeway Ave. and Dewitt Rd).

Linn-Mar advances
In the 1st game of Sub-State #5 action today (May 17th), Linn-Mar defeated Mason City 2-0.
