Wahawk Athletics

Wahawk Athletes are fortunate to have one of the best training staffs in the State if Iowa. Led by Mr. Dave Fricke, all athletes have access to Dave and his staff of UNI students for support during all sports seasons. Dave and his staff have a new training room that is conveniently located near the main gym and the athletic locker rooms.

In Season Sport Hours:

• Non-Game/Event Days: 2:15pm-5:30pm
• Game/Event Days): 2:15pm-3:15pm (then to event)

Dave Fricke comes to Waterloo West after years of practical athletic training experience in both the medical and professional athletics fields. Dave's past employment experiences include the following:

* Staff Athletic Trainer- New York Mets, Flushing, NY ('89-'02)

* Athletic Trainer - Madison Central HS, Richmond, KY (1990)

* Head Athletic Trainer- St. Paul Vulcan’s Hockey Team ('92-'94)

* Head Athletic Trainer- St. Paul Saints Baseball ('93-'94)

* Outpatient Phys. & Occup. Therapy, Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, IA ('94-'03)

* Head Athletic Trainer, Waterloo Blackhawks Hockey (’94-’95)

* Head Athletic Trainer, Waterloo Warriors HS Hockey (’99-04’)

* Head Athletic Trainer, Waterloo Bucks Baseball (’95-’00)

* Athletic Trainer, Cedar Valley Medical Specialists, Waterloo, IA '03-present)

* Assisted in the Developed & managed XL Sports Acceleration Program

In addition to his support at Waterloo West, Dave also provides on the job experience for students from the University of Northern Iowa's Athletic training program to assist him in covering all Wahawk Athletics.
